Preparation hint for the upcoming open response:

When starting to write think about a time without civ (Neolithic) and reflect on how since the first civ there has always been one. Meaning there is something important about civilizations, we live in one now! What elements are so important we still have the same elements today? You should have three pieces of direct evidence and he must explain the evidence. Hope this helps.

September 8th

The essay was assigned today rather than Monday due to the fact I was out. I understand that many students wanted to bring in notes, and I've taken that into account by allowing students to take the essay home and complete it there.

Students were given the entire class time in order to write the essay, because of that please do not spend any more than 20 min on it for homework. If you find you need more time feel free to stop and see me after school so that we may together go over the essay.

The essay is due Friday
The Archeology guided reading due date moved to Tuesday.
Map project due Monday(project assigned on Wed. should only take about 30min of students time to complete).
Map quiz given on Tues. Please spend 5 min every night looking over map.

For homework answer the following question. Be sure to type it, and it should be at least 7 sentences long. As always I want you to not only answer the question, but explain your answer as well.

Muhammad was said to be illiterate. Why would his being illiterate be important or critical to the religion of Islam?

Think about our discussion today, and how we talked about the importance of why the Qur’an must not be translated. Remember don’t just give me an answer. Tell me why.


7th grade

Today was a surprise day in the computer lab. Hopefully you researched Part 5 and got most of it done. Tonight’s homework is to work on Part 5, but if you finished that today in class start on your Historical Fiction. Remember to keep looking at your timeline, and use the organizer as well.

8th grade- No homework!

7th grade- Find a Greek name, one from your assigned city-state. Don't just make one up but find an actual person who is from your city-state, and write a couple sentences about them on the back of your name card. Remember on the front put the Greek name. On the back your name and the three sentences. Name game begins Monday.

E- You have the above homework but you also must decide which battle you would like to research. Rank them in case you do not get your first pick, you can try for the second pic. The battles you are going to choose from are on the Timeline handout given to you during class.

8th grade

Tonight for homework rank the four Persian kings from most important to the least and be sure to detail your responses as to why you ranked them in the position you did. If you did not finish the anagram, be sure to do that as well.

8th grade- Complete Tetzel's response and be ready to share. Remember you will be sharing these in class so be sure to keep the "passion/anger" to an appropriate level.
